This photo has been cropped from the original and was probably taken pre 1917.

Rather than leaning on a piece of wood, it appears Mr. Grieves is holding cordwood measuring stick. With his vest displaying what may be tally or note books and his shirt sleeve protection he was probably a clerk ...

It is highly unlikely this building was used to store lumber as S.C.Co. had no saw mill at the time of this photo.
