- Description
- Colour photograph of the front view of Deer Lake Lodge, located near Deer Lake in the South River area. The lodge is two floors high, with a porch on the second floor and a window in the attic. A house for the owners of the lodge is to the left of the photograph. The tin roofing is rusted, the wood planking on the outside of both buildings is highly worn. The front lawn of the building is not mowed or cared for. Trees are lining the back of the lodge.
- Notes
- William Detta Sr. built Deer Lake Lodge in the 1920s, on the land of his parent's homestead. There was eleven bedrooms, a living room, pantry and store room. The lodge was filled with men during hunting season. William's family lived at an attached house and hosted the hunters.
