- Description
- Black and white photograph of Deer Lake Lodge, located near Deer Lake in the South River area. The lodge is a substantial building of three floors, but is in disrepair due to age. The tin roof is rusted and the exterior wood and porch is weathered quite severely. The lodge sits back about 300 feet from the road, situated in a clearing, surrounded by woods in the back.
- Notes
- William Detta Sr. built Deer Lake Lodge in the 1920s, on the land of his parent's homestead. There was eleven bedrooms, a living room, pantry and store room. The lodge was filled with men during hunting season. William's family lived at an attached house and hosted the hunters.
