- This picture is copied from a colourized post card from around 1900.The causeway has not yet been completed and a bridge spans the end of Ahmic Lake. At the top right of the picture, just visible, is the home and post office owned by William Millin. In front of that home is the ‘white house’, possibly originally built by Henry Montgomery and many years later owned by Amos Ross and, still later by Lewis and Eliza Crossman. On the north side of Ahmic Street (across from the end of Mary Street) is the Charles and Phoebe Croswell boarding house. On the southeast corner of Ahmic and Mary Streets is the home later owned by Loron and Alice Stanyer. At the time of this picture it was owned by Almerin Truax with the Snaith or Alexander family as tenants. The home with the white addition backing on the water was owned by Horatio and Annie Clark who operated it as a boarding house. In 1907, Art and Josephine McDonald purchased the house and built a second home adjoining the first which they also operated as a boarding house. Art McDonald was the manager of the Cliffeburne Hotel at the time. (The original Clark home was later known as the Bosley house after Josephine married Art Bosley after Art Macdonald’s death.) The original Clark home was torn down years later. The newer addition stood on the corner for many years. Although it was occupied for a time by Emma Moulton, it is best remembered as the home of the Ernest ‘Ernie’ and Lizzie (Stanyer) Paul family.
