Notes
Pictured here is the ‘Green House’ on Lot 25 on the north side of the road on the outskirts of Ahmic Harbour. The home was rebuilt by the Catalano’s and still stands.

Of note, in the 1879 Guidebook and Atlas, Elizabeth Paul, daughter of Edmund Paul Sr. was identified as occupying Lot 27 of Concessions 6 and 7, 200 acres; and Edmund Paul was identified as occupying Lot 26, Concessions 6 and 7, 200 acres. Consistent with this, Orma (Crisp) Quinn identified that her Uncle Norman and her mother Margaret Paul were born on the latter lots in what was termed ‘the model’ behind Ahmic Harbour.

Lots 25 and 26 Concession 9 are shown in the 1879 “Guide Book and Atlas of Muskoka and Parry Sound Districts as being occupied by John Paul. In Library records, his occupation of the Lots is shown as being 1875. However, the Lots were not officially transferred to John Paul until August 17, 1889. The Lots straddle the road from Ahmic Harbour to Dunchurch, present day Highway 124. On the same day as the Lots were officially granted, August 17, 1889, John Paul transferred the Lots to his father Edmund Paul.

In later years the property transferred from Harriet Paul to her son Edmund Paul – known locally as ‘Old Ed Paul’ – the old being the typical moniker for an old bachelor.
