- Between lots 4 and 5 on the south side of Ahmic Street is a driveway that leads back to a brick home built in the early 1890’s by John Croswell. The home was completed by 1895 when John transferred the Croswell Boarding House on Block A on the north side of Ahmic Street to his son and daughter-in-law Charles and Phoebe (Dixon) Croswell and family.
In 1906, the property passed to Lillie (Croswell) Kennedy, daughter of John and Mary Ann Croswell. (April 25, 1917 registration of an indenture from April 8, 1906). At the time of the indenture, Lillie owned and operated a boarding house on the north side of Ahmic Street which she sold in 1907. For a short period of time, Lillie used the former John and Mary Ann Croswell home as a boarding house.
John Henry and Annie (Bradley) Newell purchased the home following their marriage August 20, 1912. They were living in the 8 room home in 1921 and continued to live there all of their married life. - Place of Publication
