I am the son of John Coates Farrow and Elda Farrow. I was born on August 2 1949 not 1950.I now live in Ao Nang Thailand. My father was very proud of his Navy history. My father was very proud to do naval service and it was not known he and two other sailors were put ashore in Montivideo as they had damaged the steering of the Graf Spee and being neutral were allowed 48 hrs to effect repairs.Hitler told them to fight to the last but the Captain Lansdorf was german royal navy and did not agree with his decision. He took his ship out of the harbour and got his crew off and scuttled the ship. They were upset as Lansdorf saved many lives of both ships.I am very proud to see this article in print.Kind regards John C Farrow.
