Albert was born on April 3, 1921 in Walsingham, Norfolk, England. He joined the Royal Navy and served onboard the Ajax at the Battle of the River Plate as a signalman. He was only eighteen at the time.
Albert married Verona Evans in 1943 and they immigrated to Canada just after the end of World War Two. They lived in both Stratford and Burlington, Ontario.
Albert served for thirty four years as a policeman, retiring as a sergeant from the Stratford Police Department. He received the honour of a street naming in the Town of Ajax in 1986, visiting in 1991 with Verona for a formal dedication.
Albert and several of his Ajax shipmates visited the Town of Ajax in 1999 for the 60th Anniversary and in 2009 for the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of the River Plate.
Albert died on February 20, 2012 at ninety years of age, leaving behind his second wife Gloria.
