PICKERING BRANCH OF WOMEN’S INSTITUTE (Continued) (e) Numerous papers and demonstrations in Home Economics and Health have been given. Assi stance has been given the Public Health nurse in administering toxoids and in a T.B. Survey. An educational campaign has been initiated by this Branch for a Health Unit for the county. A local Tag Day for the Blind has been sponsored for a number of years. This Institute catered for two Parker Pen Picnics held in this vicinity. 1952 - Assisted in purchase of floodlights for the Park 1953 - Purchased a bed for Ajax-Pickering Hospital In 1956 a Hobby Show sponsered by the Institute was visited by about 800 people. During the past three years our ladies have made many beautiful quilts, served lunches to make money for their charities, compiled the Tweedsmuir History. We have, above all, enjoyed our afternoons of interesting programs & happy tea parties.
