- What appears to be a highway in the front of the mill is in fact, thousands of logs, being processed on the other side of the Sturgeon River into lumber.
Field Lumber was a very interesting local commerce that kept its head above water for nearly a century. - Notes
- The Field Lumber mill provided employment for over 80 years for the village of Field and area. Many people are surprised to hear that during its glory days, the Field Lumber steam-powered mill processed and sold top grade white pine to Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. From 1958-1978, it also exported 40 million board feet of white pine to Antigua and Trinidad in the Caribbean. [LeBelle, Wayne, "Field, Ontario 1850-2009", p.33]
