Description
The Sturgeon River has been used to produce electricity for the early communities of Sturgeon Falls and Cache Bay. It has also been used until the 1960s for driving millions of logs that were sent to the George Gordon mill in Cache Bay and across Lake Nipissing to Lake Nipissing.
Notes
Ottawa area lumber magnate J.R. Booth also used the Sturgeon River to send his annual timber cuts to his mills. This trek could last up to two years. He worked in the area doing the first cut of pine in the Sturgeon River basin.
