- Description
- Home of Adam and Alexander Dick, circa 1870’s. One of the brothers was so sick that his brother had to go fetch the doctor. He stopped at a neighbour’s house on Derry Rd, and asked a man named MacDougall if he would go and get the doctor while mr. Dick went back to stay with the sick sibling. Mr. MacDougall said the roads were very bad, and that he wouldn’t go to Milton to fetch the doctor, but would rather stay with the invalid. When the other brother returned with the doctor, the sick brother had died, and all the Dick’s money was gone. No one ever claimed responsibility for the crime and no charges were ever laid, but coincidentally, the next year, two identical houses were built in the area, one belonging to Mr. MacDougall.
Each successive owner of the Dick house has searched for the missing money, but no one has ever found it.
