Isaac Askin was my Great, Great, Great Grandfather. I just learned about the historical connection that I have to this area! (We live near Erin Mills Parkway and Britannia). I grew up in downtown Toronto and moved to this area 30 years ago. We went to visit Isaac Askin's grave in Streetsville yesterday. I would love to know more about the Askin, Scott and Rutledge families and any historical landmarks still around today!

I like to say it was a great experience and joy as a child growing up in the old school house, my father Gerald was the master of converting the old school house into our home. I would say most of the original brick structure remained and with our family growing the school house had a few additions that were added. My father immigrated from Holland to Okanagan Valley B.C. and after a few years working in the sawmills and picking fruit he ventured to Ontario with my Mom. and after a few years they bought the school house.
I do have some newspaper articles on this and as a child growing up with the neighboring children it was interesting when their parents or grandparents went to the school when it was open.
I sadly have to say my father did pass away this year. All I can say to my father and mom it was the greatest times of my life growing up in the old school house. These are memories that I will cherish for ever and never forget it was not like growing in a normal house it was different and fun.
