I was a student at Maple Grove, 1958 - 1967. Also, one of my aunts, Jean Auty, nee Baylis was a teacher there, back when it was a three room school. My kindergarten class was upstairs in the three room section and my grade 5 class was in the original one room part.
One of my memories from back then was of Sheridan Nurseries' horse drawn wagons, traveling between their farm behind the school and another near what's now Royal Windsor Drive and Ford Drive. There was a dirt lane along the south side of the school, which led to the nursery and I recall and old man "Chris" manning the entrance. He'd occasionally give us kids cookies.

I attended Maple Grove between 1”61 and 1964 for grades 5-7. Mrs. Edith Sigmund was my Grade 5 teacher and the Mr. Ronald McCleary was my teacher fr grades 6-7. The highlight of grade 7 was being in the old school house building which featured a large cloakroom at the back of the room. Discipline in those days included being sent to stand in a corner and this cloakroom provided an additional 4 corners, many of which could be occupied at one time. I have to say that Ronald McCleary made the greatest impact on my educational life… even more so than anyone in university undergraduate or graduate level instructors and professors.
