The Askin family were early settlers in the area of Glenorchy, Agerton and Lisgar in Trafalgar Township.

In Census records, Eli Askin is listed as a carpenter.

Listing in the 1896 Morrey's Business Directory - Halton, Waterloo and Wellington, (Ingersoll: Union Publishing Co., 1896), page 174: Askin , Eli , Glenorchy , Trafalgar Township Freeholder - Con. (north Dundas Street) 2 Lot. 21. (ie Lot 21, Concession 2 NDS).

Died at Glenorky, on Sunday, November 29th, 1914 Eli Askin aged 87 years.

The Funeral Service will be held at his late residence, 4th line, Glenorky, on Wednesday afternoon, december 2nd, at 1 o'clock. Interment in St. Jude's Cemetery, Oakville. Friends and acquaintances will please accept this intimation.
