- Description
- Eva (Van Sickle) Joubert is 4th from the left, the 1st on the left is Norm Wood, next to him on is one of the Fox boys. Eva's brother, John Van Sickle, was absent this day.
There was a school in Palermo as early as 1819. It was one of 3 public schools in Trafalgar Twp. The first school may have been on the same property as the ones built in 1844, 1875 & 1942 or it may have been across the road near the cemetery.
The children in this photograph are standing in the garden of the brick school built in 1875. It stood back a bit further from the road than the school that was built in 1942 and which still stands today - incredibly close to the road thanks to 2016 reconstruction of Dundas Street. - Date Of Event
