Description
Several photographs prepared for the Town of Oakville review of the farmhouse at 41 Dundas Street East. The black and white photo was taken in 1977, the others including the interior, in 2012.

It stands just east of Munn's United Church at 6th Line and Dundas. A link to a photo of the church taken sometime in the 1920s to 1950s shows the house in the distance.

Architectural historian Tom Murison has suggested that the building seen in these photographs, "contains the circa 1806 frame house, a circa 1835 addition modified with a steeper roof and dormer around 1845-60 (probably with a change in chimney and stair locations at the same time, and with the brick addition circa 1864 or later modified again around the turn of the 20th. century. In terms of function, it probably started as a farm house, and may have been an inn by the mid-19th century, due to the changes in the plan and location on Dundas street. It may also have been a business after 1900."

The patent for Lot 15 Concession 1 NDS was granted to John Robinson in 1804. He sold off several parcels over the next years but Daniel Munn acquired the entire Lot by 1820, In 1841, Daniel's estate sold the south half to Jordan Munn. John Hastings bought a parcel from Jordan in 1862, William Perkins was the next owner.
