- Description
- A postcard sent to Mabel Bridgman by Hazel M. Walker. The photograph is of a road winding up around a steep hill with buildings on the top of the "mountain" on the left. A fence zigzags up the hills and a buggy and horse can be seen in the lower left hand corner.
The postcard title is, "Drive on Becket Mountain". Beckett Drive runs out of Queen Street South in downtown Hamilton, and winds up the escarpment. The Drive is named after the Becket or Beckett family who were area landowners.
The stamp is a 1 cent Canada postage, King Edward VII wearing the Ermine Robes of State. - Notes
- Mabel was born and raised in Zimmerman, Nelson Township, Halton County. Zimmerman was at Appleby and 2nd Lines. She was a collector of postcards of Hamilton, sometimes swapping them with friends, as per notes on some of them.

Address is: Miss Mabel Bridgman, Zimmerman, Ont.
Message is: Dear Mabel, Arrived home safely. One of the boys got on at Station and so I had company up. When I got home, discovered that I had lost one of my little gold cuff pins. If I lost it in your house or in the rig, you will know whom it belongs to or you might inquire if I lost it at Walkers. I might have dropped it when I got out of the rig, or in their dining room. If you get it give it to Uncle Sam & they will see that I get it when he comes. [I hope you] did not [mind] the long drive home last night. Yours, Hazel M. Walker.
