- Elmira married Ed on December 15, 1859 in Halton County. Their children were: John McCann was born about 1861. He died in 1891/1901. Emma Laura McCann, Edward Jr. McCann, Albert O. McCann was born about 1866. He died in 1881/1891, William McCann, Herbert Franklin McCann.

"The Census Return (1861) records John and Laura Bigger and Anne Bell as one family and Edward McCann and Almira (Biggar) McCann and their 1-year old son John McCann as a second family living in a 1 storey frame farmhouse on 150 acres of land on Lot 6, Concession 4.
The property was well cleared and cultivated with a cash value of $9000. The Census Return (1871) records Edward and Elmira [Almira] McCann and their five children John, Emma, Edward, Albert and William and Almira’s 75-year old widowed father John Bigger as a single household on 120 acres of land on Lot 6, Concession 4. John Bigger died on April 18,1871, and his daughter Jane, the wife of Robert Elliot, inherited 90 acres of land on the west part while his other daughter Almira, wife of Edward McCann, inherited 100 acres of land, except for some parcels in the rear of the village of Omagh, on Lot 6, Concession 4 NS.38.
The Illustrated Historical Atlas (1877) records E. McCann as the owner of the east half and part of the west half of Lot 6, Concession 4 NS. A farmhouse and orchard is shown in the location of the present structure.
The Census Return (1881) enumerates farmer Edward McCann, wife Almira McCann and their children John, Laura, Edward, Albert, William and Herbert as a household in Trafalgar Township in the vicinity of Omagh. Ten years later Census Return (1891) notes Edward and Almira McCann lived in a 12-room, 1 storey wood house. The Census Return (1901) notes Edward, Almira and 22-year old son Herbert McCann as the residents of a 7 [?] room wood house on Lot 6, Concession 4 NS. McCann was the owner of a total of 160 acres of land with one house and three barns. The Farmers and Business Directory (1906) notes Edward McCann as the freeholder of property on Lot 6, Concession 4.39 Almira McCann died on May 5, 1910, while living in Toronto, Ontario. The estate sold the home farm to Edward McCann, and the property title registered in January 1913. Edward McCann Sr. died at 85-years of age on March 15, 1940 and the funeral took place at the residence of his son Edward McCann of Omagh." - Subject(s)
