Board report Our annual general meeting went well and we have Stuart McCulloch, Gordon Kaitting, Mario Testa, Jane Watt, Ross Wark & Michelle Knoll on our board. We do have a vacancy so let us know if you would like to help out! School Desks We are in need of about 7 more school desks to get ready to implement our grade three classroom visits next year. Please contact us if you have an old school desk that you would like to donate or if you are willing to donate money towards the cost of us purchasing a desk in your name. We are happy to add a plaque to the desk acknowledging your donation. Desks range in price from $150 to $250 each. Time To Renew Your Membership for 2011 Don't forget to renew your membership. We count on this income to cover the heating and insurance costs of the schoolhouse. ($25 for individuals & $35 for families) made payable to Trafalgar Twp. Historical Society. Margaret Starkes, Susanne Noordyk, Alan Norton, Mr. and Mr. Tom Oliver Donations Thank you to Trinison developments, who donated large stones from a Burnhamthorpe barn demolition. The stones have been arranged as an edging around our front garden to replicate what was originally there. Thank you to Alan Norton who has donated his family's history to our archives, including the Simons' and Wilkinson's who lived at Palermo and the Norton's and Robinson's of Dundas Street in Nelson who also thought of Palermo as their home base. Thank you to Rory McAlpine who donated an audio CD of Harriet Emily May Hopper (nee King) about growing up at the old King home at 502 Dundas (now the "Cork House" on Neyagawa). Thank you to Chris Flanagan, owner of Maplegrove Home Hardware 511 Maplegrove Rd Oakville 905-338-0284 has donated a GET GREEN System made by local company Green Energies Technologies to the Trafalgar Township Historical Society to help them do their part to lower fuel consumption and reduce emissions. Need Your Help Please help us keep an eye on our heritage buildings! If you see any boards removed or broken windows please call by-law right away at the Town and also let us know so we can follow up. One of our members recently contacted us about the condition of 2347 Royal Windsor Drive. As a result Bylaw has been out to see the property and is requiring the building to be stabilized by boarding up windows, etc. 1
