- John Gilby, b. January 9, 1812 in Kirton, County Lincolnshire, England and died February 15, 1865 in Trafalgar Twp., Halton Co., Canada West, at age 51. He is the son of James Gilby Sr. of Willsby, County Lincolnshire, England, and Mary Cooly of England.
He married Alisimon(or Alisemon) Elizabeth Straw, called "Alise". Alisimon was born in 1817 and died in 1872. They had twin daughters, Emily and Emma.
Their farm was at Sheridan, also known today as the "Clearview" neighbourhood of Oakville. - Notes

Lois Rose spells "Alisemon" as "Alisimon" in her notes to the pictures but spelling on a photograph of "Alise" and internet research on the family show that it is properly "Alisemon". - Subject(s)
