- Anna Catherine Smith, oldest daughter of Absalom Smith and Anna Mary (Beamer) Smith of Palermo, Trafalgar Township, married Thomas Ebenezer Pickett, son of the circuit rider, Reverend Daniel Pickett and his wife, Elizabeth Franks Ingersoll, sister of Laura Secord, in Palermo on October 30, 1833. They lived in Lowville, the Reverend Daniel Pickett and family having settled there in 1820. Anna and Thomas had nine children.

- This photograph was probably taken when Thomas Ebenezer was in his sixties or seventies, therefore dating it circa 1870.
Some of the Beamer/Smith family bought the 400 acres of crown land which was given to Laura Secord in Burlington. - Inscriptions
