- Susannah was the daughter of Reuben Oakley and Mary Elizabeth Inglehart, who was a sister of John Peter Inglehart, Ezra & Amos's father. John Peter was not pleased that his son was marrying his first cousin.
In the Historical Atlas of Halton County 1877, John Ezra is located at Con 1, SDS. lot 32, Township of Trafalgar, Ontario. He was born in Canada, and settled his land in 1837. He had two girls, both killed by a train when crossing the tracks in a horse and buggy.

- In the 1881 Census, the family surname is spelled as "Ingelhart", closer to the earlier German spelling.
