- Arthur, his wife Jane (Stephens) and their seven children emigrated from England sometime after 1879. In 1883, they bought the 100 acre farm on Lot 6, Con 1, Trafalgar New Survey (NS). This property is now known as 1510 Bronte Street South, Milton.
Upon retirement in 1895, the farm was sold to their son, Herbert, and Arthur and Jane moved south of the Lakeshore Road, on the west side of 4th Line (Lot 20, Con 3 SDS) just west of McCraney's Corners. - Inscriptions
- Handwritten on the front of the photograph is "5 January 1889 Boyne". Robert Stephens died that same year. (Boyne was a Trafalgar Township village based around the intersection of R.R. 25 (Bronte Rd.) and Brittania Road, closer to Milton than Bronte on the Lake Ontario shore.)
