- Postcard to Rev. R.B. Layton, San Fernando, Trinidad, B.W.I., mailed by 25-year-old Agnes Mary Kitchen from Liverpool, England.
- Notes
- On the north-east corner of the Chester city walls overlooking the canal, is the "King Charles' I Tower." The inscription above the door reads: "King Charles Stood on this Tower Sept. 24 1645. And saw his army defeated on Rowton Moor." However, Rowton cannot be seen from the tower as it is located three miles away. The king likely watched his defeated army fleeing back to the safety of the city after the battle.

We were out to Chester this afternoon. This shows the walk on top of the walls. We took a short walk past here and also went into the Tower. To-morrow this time we will truly be on the way home.
