- A postcard sent to Rev. & Mrs. Layton, Kentville, Nova Scotia, from Lieutenant-Colonel Donald McKenzie Grant (1868-1963) from Brussels after World War I. Grant was a Huntsville, Ontario lawyer.

Musuem of the Porte de Hal. Here are installed our collection of arms and weapons of war which contain objects of great archaic interest. Builded [sic] in 1383 and transformed in 1868 it is the only vestige of the ancient fortifications. - Inscriptions

12.4.19. I have had the pleasure of being in Brussels about a week, a most interesting city. Have gone out to all places of interest in Bruges, Ostend, & Zerbrugge where the naval work took place. I was just outside Ostend & close enough to see the flashes & hear the guns where it was. Expect to be leaving for home soon.
