Apart from the uplift derived from the discussion group, want just for a minute to men- tion the musical portion of that service. It was provided by the Oakyille-Trafalgar High School Glee Club trained by Mr. Hugh Brearley and conducted by Mrs. Fulford on account of the last min- ute illness of Mr. Brearley. It was inspirational to see and hear these young teen-age folk singing to the praise of God. Ac- tually there should be no short- age of material for our church choirs With all this young talent being coached year after year. I fore, and I cannot help but talk about it again. The high school choirs are now a regular thing in most schools. and I cannot help but wonder where are the ones who have graduated from school and what are they doing with their musical talents. Some of them are singing in church choirs, indeed some of them are doing solo work. They are getting good training, it only needs something which the high schools are not expected to teach to have these young people turn their talents in the right direc- tion. "Drive carefully' lest you become a statistic." With this in mind may I wish one and all a Happy New Year and safe tra- velling in the days ahead. No one knows what may be in store for us but we can at least pray for the best. No dictator has yet conquered the world and they have been trying since before the days of Christ. Getting back to statistics there are 564,510,000 Christians in the world and they are scattered through every land representing one third of the hu- man race. Surely their influence is powerful enough to spread hope and light in these troubled times. Cushnie and Carol Pope in their uet. Winner of the Week If Mrs. Paul Gilllam, Bronte, will call in at Lofquist's Record Bar, she will be presented with a Red Seal Record with the compli- ments of the Journal, Socialist Ethics In the bad old days when John D. Rockefeller was building up his oil monopoly, he is said to have extorted from American railroads a rake-off from all the revenue they earned from the business they did 'with other oil companies. We thought that kind of bus- iness practice was a thing of the past. But today we find the soc- ialist government of Saskatche- wan resorting to similar tactics in its insurance business. All automobiles licensed in Saskatchewan are compelled to carry government insurance. If any person wishes to purchase ad- ditional insurance from a private company he is free to do so. But if such a person has an accident, the government will re- fuse to pay any part of his loss until all the private policy is ex- hausted. Thus we find the power of the government being used to compel private companies to pey claims for. which the government itself has collected premiums.
