TO REGISTER: haltonwomensplace.com/events Registration: $40 | Students: $10 Here is the latest Ministry of Health in- formation on what happens if an outbreak is declared in a school. • Schools are responsible for reporting a probable or confirmed COVID-19 case to Halton's public health department and to the Ministry of Education. • According to Ministry of Health guide- lines, the Halton public health department will be responsible for determining if an outbreak in a school exists, managing the outbreak and deciding when the outbreak can be declared over. • If an outbreak is declared in a school, public health will assist in determining which cohort(s) may be sent home, or if a partial or full school closure is required. • It will be public health that provides letters to school families that confirms a case in the community. • If public health advises that a class, co- hort or a school should be closed for a peri- od of time, parents, students and staff will be notified immediately. • Ministry guidelines require school boards to post confirmed cases and co- horts required to self-isolate, and closures of a class or school, on the board website • The ministry is also rolling out a daily reporting requirement for school boards with input of data around confirmed cases into a portal. • A student who becomes ill at school will be placed in an isolation area where the staff person caring for that student should maintain physical distance and wear PPE.
