As Oakville council vot- ed during its Monday, Jan. 14 meeting to move for- ward with plans for a new subdivision in the Burn- hamthorpe Road and Sixth Line area, Ward 7 Town Coun. Jasvinder Sandhu noted that she was moving this subdivision agree- ment ahead with great trepidation. "We have planning ob- jectives and this subdivi- sion is part of that, but I am concerned as I have said on many occasions about the lack of schooling in Ward 7," said Sandhu. "Without the adequate schooling and funding from the province I amfrom the province I amf worried such a large par- cel of land with so many homes will just add to the crisis situation that we are seeing." The Star Oak Develop- ments Ltd., subdivision agreement is the 22nd sub- division agreement for lands within north Oak- ville. The draft plan of subdi- vision and conditions of draft approval for the sub- ject lands got the go-ahead from the Ontario Munici-from the Ontario Munici-f pal Board on May 4, 2017. The development will consist of 119 residential single detached lots, 16 res- idential townhouse blocks, seven employment land blocks, three open space blocks and one village square block. Construction of the sub- division is scheduled to take place in 2020 and 2021. In mid-December 2018 it was noted during a meet- ing of the Halton District School Board that despite Ministry of Education funding approval, con-funding approval, con-f struction of the new Oak- ville northeast elementary school would be delayed beyond 2020. It was previously sched- uled to open its doors in the fall of 2019. During that meeting it was said further Ministry approvals are currently pending, despite property acquisitions, site plans and tendering approvals.
