Or perhaps you'd like to see a suspense that's par- tially filmed right here in Oakville? You'll get all that and more next weekend as the Oakville Festivals of Film and Art (OFFA) runs Fri- day to Sunday, June 22-24. The festival is focused on bringing the best fea- tures, documentaries, and short films to locations in southern Ontario. OFFA presents Oak- ville's only independent film festival - the Willson Oakville Film Festival - each year for three days in June. Ward 5 Coun. Jeff KnollWard 5 Coun. Jeff KnollW is in the film United We Fan, a movie that finds people who've lobbied to keep given television shows alive. In the case of Knoll, he is featured talking about his Jericho fan campaign. Fan campaigns are a re- ality around the world, ex- plained director Michael Sparaga from Toronto, who says he grew up watch- ing television and always loved it. At 13, he loved Crime Story, which ended in a cliffhanger, never to re- turn. He wrote a letter to NBC. Surprisingly, the show was brought back. He wasn't sure how many peo- ple wrote to the network, but he always wondered about it and later he decid- ed to do this documentary on fandom. It will be screened on Sunday, June 24, at 12:30 p.m. at Film.ca Cinemas, 171 Speers Rd. The drama Ordinary Days was shot in an Oak- ville home and features lead actress Jacqueline Byers, who is from Oak- ville. Cara Cook is a bright, athletic, college student who disappears without a trace. Five days play out three times from a trio of perspectives: her spiral- ling parents (shot inside the house), the troubled de- tective assigned to her case and Cara herself. It will be screened Sun- day, June 24, at 3:30 p.m. at film.ca Cinemas, 171 Speers Rd. To learn more, and see what other films are on, go to https://offa.ca. It'll do so once again at Drumquin Park (185 Bri- tannia Rd.) from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, with the an- nual model aircraft show. Open to the public, the event features a wide vari- ety of model aircraft, both in flight and on static dis- play. The different kinds of flying done at the club will be demonstrated, such as 3D aerobatics, soaring and scale flight. Club members will be on hand to answer ques- tions from spectators. There'll even be an op- portunity to pilot a model aircraft under the guid- ance of a qualified flight in- structor. Rounding out the festiv- ities will be the ever-popu- lar candy drop. Admission is a donation to the Fare Share Food Bank. There is ample free parking on the grounds, and food and beverages will be available for sale. Eventgoers are encour- aged to take a lawn chair or picnic blanket to enjoy the show. COMMUNITY Annual model aircraft show on Father's Day The Oakville Milton Flying Club will hold its annual model aircraft show at Drumquin Park on Father's Day.
