Players, aged 6 to 13 years of age, displayed their skills in stickhandling, shooting and skating. The following are the gold and silver medal winners. This fantastic week of minor hockey features the top two teams battling it for playoff supremacy from each of the 21 divisions within the Minor Oaks Hockey Association. It's the MOM's volunteer group who pay and plan the whole week which also includes trophies not only for the championship week teams, but also all the vari­ ous league awards. All this costs about $12,000 and the MOM's work hard the rest of the year to pay for it. One of the annual fundraisers is upcoming on April 17th and it's the popular annual dance and silent auction which will be held at the Galaxy Club in Oakville. The dance is typically sold out with upwards of 500 people in attendance. The Hockey MOM's are always appreciative of any support and items for the silent auction would be greatly appreciated. The Oakville Rangers dou­ ble-A peewee rep team have gone the distance in the post season, winning four playoff rounds to reach the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) championship series. But their backs are against the wall as they travel to Peterborough tonight, trailing by two games in a best-of-five series. Here's a recap of their third and fourth round series, against Caledon and Brampton, respectively, each of which went an incredible six games. FOURTH ROUND SERIES Oakville and host Brampton deadlocked at 3-3 in the open­ ing game. Goals were scored by Taylor Jenkin (2) and Steve Mills. Assists went to Mills (2), Brandon Taverner (2) and Brock Pawliw. Back at home, Oakville dropped two straight games by the same 2-1 count to put their backs against the wall .Cam McKay had Oakville's lone goal in the first game, assisted by Taylor Jenkin. Mike Hodgkinson had the lone goal of the second game, assisted by Taylor Jenkin. With a tie and two losses, Oakville was left needing an improbable three straight wins. And that's exactly what they accomplished. The floodgates opened for Oakville on the road in game four as they posted their first win, 7-3. Goals were scored by Taylor Jenkin (3), Brock Pawliw, Tyler Legein, Bryan Whitney and Cam McKay. Assists went to Brandon Taverner (2), Jenkin, Pawliw, Mike Hodgkinson and Steve Mills. Back on home ice, Oakville evened up the series with a 4-2 win. Goals were scored by Alfred Lee (2), Taylor Jenkin and Griffin Allen. Assists went to Jenkin, Brock Pawliw, Brandon Taverner, Steve Mills and Cam McKay. Oakville posted their third straight win in Brampton, 4-3 in nailbiting fashion, to take the series. In Caledon, Oakville pulled off a 3-1 win. Goals were scored by Brandon Taverner, Brock Pawliw and Steve Mills. Assists went to Taylor Jenkin (2), Taverner, Mike Hodgkinson and Alfred Lee. Oakville couldn't wrap the series up on home ice, losing 4- 1. Griffin Allen had the lone Oakville goal, assisted by Bryan Whitney and Cam McKay. The deciding game in Caledon went in to overtime with Oakville emerging victo­ rious, 4-3. Goals were scored by Steve Mills (2), Tyler Legein and Mike Hodgkinson. Assists went to Taylor Jenkin, Alfred Lee, Brock Pawliw, Brandon Taverner and Daniel Warelis. Playing a strong game on defence in this series for the Rangers were Nick Randall, Grant Jackman and Ryan Donnelly. Bound for the Dallas Cup A couple of pre-teen Oakville soccer players are involved this coming week in one of the world's top junior soccer tournaments -- the Dallas Cup. Kyle Dulmage and Ryan Tuske are the Oakville representatives on the metro area Ontario Selects all-star team that is entered in the tournament's youngest division -- the U-12. The Ryan Ttaske team °Pens UP this Sunday, 2 p.m., against a host Texan team. On Monday, they play a Venezuelan team, on Tuesday they have a bye, and on Wednesday they a play the Illinois State team. The U-12 team warmed up this past week with a 0-0 tie against an older Oakville U-14 team. Earlier the Dallas- bound squad beat the U-13 Woodbridge Selects 2-0. The idea is the brainchild of longtime Oakville coach Charlie Sciberras. He has put together an all-star team of the best rep players from around the metro area for the express purpose of competing in the Dallas Cup. Once the Dallas Cup is over, the players will head back to their regular community rep teams for the outdoor (See 'Ontario' page 41) Kyle Dulmage
