August 1, 1973 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER 1 1 Mr. and Mrs. James Robert Metcalfe. Wedding St. Jude's Anglican Church provided the setting for the July 21st wedding of Jacqueline Ann Cartner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Desmond A.J. Cartner of Oakville and Mr. James Robert Metcalfe, son of Mr. and Mrs. George R. Metcalfe of Brampton. The bride,. given in marriage by her father, wore a sleeveless gown of peau de soie trimmed in broad Brussels lace with a scooped neckline and blue-l ined ca thedra l train. She carried a cascade of white gladiolas and small pink rosebuds. Attending the bride were her sisters Miss Gillian Cartner, maid of honor, and Miss Heidi Cartner, Miss Shirley Hardy of Hamilton and Miss Heather Metcalfe, sister of the groom. The attendants were gowned alike in blue nylon empire dresses with white picture hats trimmed with a blue rose. They carried baskets of sweetheart roses. The groom's attendants w e r e Mr . R o b e r t Mclnnis, Mr. Robert Talbor and Mr. George Issac, all of Brampton, and Mr. Charles Bendell, of Port Credit. The bride's mother welcomed guests in a mint green gown with matching shoes and coat and a violet orchid corsage. The groom's mother was dressed in a blue and green floral print gown with gold slippers and wore a white orchid corsage with an apricot colored centre. The ceremony, which w as o f f i c i a t e d by Reverend Dingwall and accompanied on the organ by Mr. Evans, was followed by a reception at the Glen Abbey Golf and Country Club. Illlllllllll Parks go country style Now's the time to start polishing up your six-guns and dusting off that ten- gallon hat to get ready for some real country style livin'. There are only two weeks to go before Oakville youngsters get saddled up for the big wi n d - u p b a s h in C o r o n a t i o n P a r k , sponsored each year by the Oakville Parks and Recreation Commission. This year's summer finale, with a Western flavour, will be held on August 15th and will feature the selection of a Rodeo Queen. The lucky queen for a day will be chosen from all the four to six-year- olds representing each playground in Oakville. Each playground will also be responsible for creating a mascot which wil l be j udged in Coronation Park on the big day. Among the other events lined up, will be an auction sale where kids will get a chance to get rid of all the junk in their bedrooms and garages fo r a p r o f i t . The big event of the day will be the grand opening parade for which every park will have a Western theme such as Warpath Indians and Diamond Lil's. It won't all be fun and g a m e s f o r t he youngsters, however, because each park is also in charge of setting up a booth to entertain the "bigcity folk."
