Primal Athletics owner up for top trainer award By Catarina Muia Chris LeBlanc, master trainer, motivational speaker, boxing and Muay Thai instructor and owner of Primal Athletics LTD., Oakville, has been nominated for Muscle Insider Magazine's Trainer of the Year 2018 award. "I'm really excited about this nomination; it's great for the Oakville community. If we win this award, it's going to be a big deal, and it will show the success in our town," said LeBlanc. "There are very famous names that have been associated with this award in Canada." Out of 10 nominees Canada-wide, the winner will be chosen in July. Criteria for the award is based on which trainer best motivates and inspires their clients, using whatever method necessary. "They're running a peer judging at the magazine over six weeks, and in those six weeks they're going to be using local and social media to judge our weight-loss regimens, nutritional guidance and supplement advice," LeBlanc explained. LeBlanc himself is a certified personal trainer, sports nutritionist and powerlifting coach, as well as a mechanical engineering technologist. He utilizes all of these certifications in his role as head coach at Primal Athletics. Primal Athletics' fitness coaches are known for successfully combining exercise and nutrition so that all their clients can achieve results and reach their ideal lifestyle and fitness goals. "We just have a different perspective. We look at the body biomechanically," he explained. "As fitness coaches, we're constantly going back to school to get recertified, and we get to know doctors in the community Chris LeBlanc and his wife, Hollie, operate Primal Athletics together. |Photo provided by Primal Athletics so we can become experts at modification." Primal Athletics' trainers work with clients of all ages and abilities. They modify exercises and meal plans where necessary by gearing each plan to the individual. Trainers help members to focus on both their endurance and strength progression as opposed to focusing solely on their body composition. This enables clients to successfully realize their goals. Among a variety of programs, Primal Athletics' most popular is the boot camp which is "the busiest boot camp in the community. We can verify this based on social media posts of daily attendance. Our classes are at capacity daily," said LeBlanc. The boot camp offers six days a week of structured classes with each day of the week representing a specific part of the body. The programs are designed to become progressively more challenging over the course of a month. "Our slogan is, 'We get results... period!'. Our pricing is affordable and in the best interest of the consumer. As of this year, we now have 880 success stories and growing. In order to keep people on top of their plan, we manually text reminders to our clients who have appointments with their trainers the following day." Although it may sound overwhelming to some who have never even tried to workout before, LeBlanc often says to new members: "You may see your neighbour here. We have so many people in the community coming to our facility. The moment they come in, they realize they know someone from somewhere, so I say we definitely have a good family community and environment, it's just very welcoming."
