Caribbean intergenerational concert: The Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton (CCAH) Seniors' Program is pre- senting an intergenerational concert on Sunday, Sept. 24 at the Oakville Seniors' Centre, 263 Kerr St. Seniors along with junior steel pan play- ers will be showcasing their talents. This program is a first for Halton. The focus is on sharing knowledge, skills and experiences with arts, culture and her- itage. CCAH in partnership with the Oakville Seniors' Centre launched the pro- gram in January to promote the participa- tion of Caribbean and black seniors in work- ing together towards an inclusive commu- nity. The goal is that the community and the seniors' sector is to have resources and pro- gramming that support and acknowledge the diverse roots of seniors in Halton. Seniors will have an opportunity to perform to a community audience between 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The concert is free and refreshments will be served. Seating is limited. Guest artist and workshop facilitator, Dick Smith, will be performing folk songs. He was part of the team that founded Caribana, North America's first and largest carnival celebrating Caribbean culture. Smith teaches workshops on world percus- sion and Caribbean folk music.
