You‘re young adults, have a steady job and good incomes, probâ€" ably no kids (yet), work hard, and need a vacation. Consider a cruise! It will probably be the best vacaâ€" tion you‘ve ever had and, according to industry surveys, you are likely to take another cruise every two years thereafter! What a habit to get into! Which ship? Which cabin? Which itinerary? When do I book it? How much should we pay? Lots and lots of questions! Carnival most popular cruise line selling oneâ€"third of market "For value, choice, and especialâ€" ly fun, you can‘t beat The Most Popular Cruise Line in the World," says Bob Dickinson, the president of Carnival Cruise Line. Of course, he‘s biased, but I agree with him. Heather and I have enjoyed four Carnival cruises over the years and inspected most of their ships. In Canada, Carnival sells over oneâ€"third of all cruises taken each year. Let me dispel any ideas you may have of their ships being full of only young people; the average age of cruisers on Carnival is 41; 30% of their guests are over 55, and 40% between 35 and 55. All ages â€" including young adults â€" who are choosing a cruise are likely to be choosing a sevenâ€" day winter Caribbean cruise for their first cruise. You have three basic itineraries to choose from â€" east (from Florida to San Juan, St. Thomas and St. Martin); west (from Florida to Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Jamaica); or south (from San Juan, Puerto Rico to St. Thomas, Martinique, Barbados, Curacao and even Caracas, Venezuela, and othâ€" ers). The east and west itineraries visit three portsâ€"ofâ€"call and have three days ‘at sea‘ while the south itineraries are very busy visiting five ports and have only one day ‘at sea‘. For your first cruise, I usually recommend the east or west itinerary â€" for value (it‘s about $300 less expensive) and to give you the pleasure of the days ‘at sea‘, which, for most cruisers, becomes the best part of the cruise. SHORTER CRUISES If you wish to take a shorter cruise, Carnival has threeâ€" and fourâ€" day cruises yearâ€"round to the Bahamas on two of their fabulous Superliners the "Fantasy" and "Ecstasy", sailing from Port Canaveral and Miami (think of it as Las Vegas at sea at about the same price). Huge open deck areas with every imaginable facility gives you the choice of participating or relaxing. Enjoy the swimming pools and whirlpools, give yourself a workout in the Nautica Spa, enjoy deck sports, work on your tan with a drink in hand, or do nothing at all. At night, the entertainment decks really come alive. After another great sixâ€"course meal (it‘s tough, but hang in there!), enjoy the performances in the main showâ€"lounge and then put on your dancing shoes, every Carnival cruise has three different live bands and orchestras for your enjoyment. ets and transfers at the cruise port How much?
