Four teen candles were lit to remember the 14 young women who were killed in 1989 atL' Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal, known as the Montreal Massacre. A 15th candle was lit by Sherry Saevil, in memory of murdered and missing Indigenous women. Lena Rondeau, Unitor employ m ent equity representative for Ford Canada speaks to those attending. The event was hosted jointly by the Oakville & District Labour Council, Unitor Local 707 Women's Committee, Ontario Elementary Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA), Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO) Halton and Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF), District 20.
