Kathy was born in Hamilton, Ontario on July 16, 1950, the daughter of Samuel and Phyllis Doyle. Her childhood was spent in Montreal and Burlington with siblings Robert and Patricia. Kathy attended Queen's University where she met many of her dearest friends. She also developed lasting friendships throughout her career over the years, most recently at PwC and McCarthy Tetrault. Her best years would be those spent with Peter as well as Teresa and Katie in the Oakville/Toronto area. Kathy will be remembered for her wisdom, compassion and desire to make others laugh. She was always asking others questions, which fell in line with her motto of 'to be interesting, act interested'. She was also an avid reader and a published author, herself. Her love of books is what prompted her to start volunteering at the Oakville Public Library. Kathy was a friend and mentor to many. She will be very much missed by all those that knew her. A Visitation will be held at the K opriva Taylor Funeral Hom e , 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville from 7 - 9 p.m. on Thursday, December 7th and on Friday, December 8th from 9:30 a.m. with a memorial service at 11 a.m. to follow in the chapel. John will be sadly missed by his dearly beloved wife of 66 years, Mavis, his daughter Janet and her husband, John McMulkin, and their children Lorraine and Neil (Courtney) and his son Peter and his wife Terry and their children, Amelia (Dan), Alex (Robin), Jacqueline (Erik) and great granddaughters, Casey and Evelyn. John is also survived by his sister Mary in England and numerous nieces and nephews living in England and Australia. Born on November 22, 1927 in Oldham England, he immigrated with his young family to Canada in 1964. A natural storyteller, John delighted family and friends with his tales of growing up in Northern England, meeting and marrying Mavis, joining the Royal Navy with best friend Bert, and adapting to life in Canada with an accent no one could understand. He saw humour and irony in every situation and loved people. However, he had little patience for sportscasters; he preferred to watch sports with the mute button on. The family thanks the wonderful Emergency and ICU staff of Joseph Brant Hospital for their excellent care of John. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of John's Life will take place at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333, on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 3-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Lung Association. www.smithsfh.com HALF PRICE FOR SECOND DAY!
