An Oakville senior h as been forced to tem porarily block her phone number af ter receiving num erous calls from the ap parent victim s of the CRA (Canada Rev enue Agency) scam . The resident, who wishes to remain anon ymous, said that between Aug. 10-14 she received approximately 50 calls from people looking for money, which they claim is owed to them by the CRA. From discussions and messages left by the callers it soon became clear to the senior some kind of scam was underway. "I don't know how they did it, but they sent out text messages to people all across Canada claiming to be the CRA and telling them they had a refund coming and mak ing it look like the message came from my phone number," she said. "They get directed to a website that I guess looks like a CRA website and when they go Flynn on wage rates Page 14 see Accusations on p.3 Chloe Ganny, 5, and Addison Morel, 6, both of whom are entering Grade 1 this year, took on a lemonade stand as a summer project. It allowed them to spend time outdoors, meet people in the community and to earn some money. The lemonade stand was their first such venture and was open in southwest Oakville on Sunday, Aug. 13 from 11 a.m .-2 p.m. at Bronte Road and Valhalla Court. Halton Regional Police officers took a few minutes out of their day to quench their thirst at the stand.
