C4 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, December 20, 2000 A C ki H o w S a n ta got h is Elves! Once Santa was in his workshop trying to make all the toys for all the children of the world. He hardly ever took a break since Christmas was only ten days away and he had nobody to help him. One day at dinner he said to Mrs. Claus "1 need someone to help me build all those toys." "I can't help you. My job is to make hot chocolate," said Mrs. Claus. "Then what should I do?" asked Santa. He thought about what to do for hours, then he finally said, "I've got it!!" Santa raced to the bam, got one of his rein deer. coupled him up to. his sleigh, hopped on and took off. Santa raced down to the town of Oakville to the house of a little boy named Andrew. Santa woke him up and said "Andrew come with me." Andrew asked "Santa what are you doing here. It is not Christmas yet?" But never the less he went with him. Santa took Andrew to his workshop and said "As you can see I am having trouble making all the toys and I only have 23 per cent of the toys done! Do you have a solution for me so Christmas can be saved?" "Hmmm," thought Andrew. "Yes! You can get the kids of the world to help!" "Okay!" said Santa. "Get all your friends together and I will pick everyone up at 11:30 tomorrow night. So Santa flew Andrew home. On the next day Andrew talked to his friends and his friends talked to their friends, and every one agreed to the idea. At 11:30 p.m. Santa came to everyone's homes to pick them up. When they got to his workshop Santa said "You're here to help me save Christmas, so work fast because there are only nine days left until Christmas! Now, let's get started!" All the kids got to work. At 2:00 a.m. Santa brought the kids home and every night after that, Santa brought the kids back to his workshop. Finally on Christmas Eve the toys were finished! They had saved Christmas! Because Santa was so thankful he asked Andrew to help deliver pre sents. When Santa and Andrew had finished, Santa dropped him off at his house. And from that Christmas on Santa kept bringing those same kids back to help hi and he turned them into his elves. Alex F. St. Matthew's School Grade 4 s Ckristm as turned off his NES. "Fine! I'll go!" yelled Jason. Roxanne said "It'll take 48 hours for the reindeer to heal!" Nicholas was upset. He went to his daughter Marin and asked her to take out Glisten and Mystical since the other reindeer would not be able to fly Nicholas tonight. Glisten was the Mystical Reindeer because she could travel at the speed of light and did not need to eat very often. Then a Gremling and a Stone Gargoyle appeared and placed a curse on Nicholas: Gone in 60 minutes? If Nicholas did not deliver all the presents in 60 minutes he would disappear. "Dis-!" yelled Nicholas. He packed up his sleigh and zoomed to the house with Glisten the Mystical leading the way. He stood in the chim ney of the first house and took out his Christmas Present Launch-o-matic-1-800. He blasted the presents under the tree. He did the same for about 30 million more houses. Then he looked at his watch, 00:60 seconds left! He bolted to Glisten and they raced to the North Pole. `Ten, nine, eighL sex" the watch read. "Hey, what happened to seven?!" said Nicholas. "Just kid ding!" the watch replied. "Seven, six, five, four, three, two." "We're here!" yelled Nicholas. At that moment, the Gremling and the Stone Gargoyle disintegrated. Then Nicholas ran into the house. The other reindeer were feeling much better. "Glisten ROX!!!" yelled everyone. Michael J.S. She is in the girls' dormitories. Marry and Ron met Hermione in the Griffendor common room for breakfast. They were so hungry they didn't talk until Harry asked "Who here is going home for Christmas?' Semus, Neville and Percy said they were. "Where are you going?' Ron asked his brother Percy the Prefect. `To visit Charlie in Iceland training the polar bears to fly on broom sticks" said Percy. "No fair!" exclaimed Ron. That left Ron, Harry and Hermione the only Griffendors at Hogwarts for Christmas. Over the next week the Christmas decorations were put up. Hogwarts looked great. Hagrid (Harry's friend and gamekeeper of Hogwarts who does not have magical powers) let Harry, Ron and Hermione help with zapping in frog and lizard fruitcake, tinsel wands for the tree and instant snow potions for table centres. The next day the Banquet Hall looked amazing for the Christmas Party. Harry, Ron and Hermione went to bed with candy cane broomsticks and chocolate cauldrons dancing in their heads. When they woke the next day and went down to the Great Hall, the head master Dumbledore was dressed up as Santa and was handing out presents. They had a feast for every meal. After dinner there was dancing to mysterious Christmas car ols. Ron found a pretty girl named Snowflake and asked her to dance and Harry asked Hermione. When dancing was finished Harry spotted an oddly decorated ball on one of the trees. He turned it around. In small letters it said: "Here tonight Potter." Harry decided he would use his invisible cloak and check it out tonight. When the party was over and the Great Hall was cleared Harry put on his special cloak that made him invisible and went down to the Great Hall. This time when he looked at the ball it took him inside the ball with a blink of the eye. There was an angel and she said to Harry, "This magic ball will grant you one wish." Then she vanished. "Okay," said Harry, "I want to meet my Mom and Dad" said Harry proudly. The ball gave a flash and then, there was his Mom and Dad inside the ball. "Mom!" cried Harry, "Dad!" He ran over and hugged his parents. Then his Dad spoke "Harry we can come visit you through this ball any time." This was the best Christmas wish Harry could ever dream for. The next day Harry told his friends everything. The three best friends decided this was the best Christmas ever. Suddenly Hermione looked up. "What's that?' she asked. "Uhh," said Ron, that means!" "Oh well" thought Harry, "so much for Christmas wishes!" Smack!" Meagan M. St. Matthew's School Grade 4 * G liste n th e M y stic a l R eindeer It was Christmas 1018729 A.D. Santa Claus (a.k.a. Nicholas) was sitting down at his toy making machine when he heard a groan. He dashed to the reindeer shed and Rudolf was missing! Nicholas discovered a trail of foot prints and he followed it. Rudolf was tied to a tree by his leash and he had a scrape on his leg. Nicholas ripped the leash off Rudolf and gave him a Health-o-matic-1-800 scrapehealer. Rudolf told Nicholas he was too weak to lead the sled on Christmas Eve. When Nicholas and Rudolf returned all the other reindeer were also hurt. Vixen had heartbum from eating too fast, Cupid's antler was stuck in the door, Comet had a sore hoof, Blitzen had a blister on his neck, Donner's hooves were struck by lightning but he wasn't hurt. He wasn't able to walk. Prancer had grav el stuck in his hooves. Dancer had frostbite and Dasher had athlete's hoof. Nicholas told Mrs. Roxanne Claus, his wife, to heal the reindeer. "Nicholas, did you clean the litter box?" asked Roxanne. "No, it's Jason's turn" replied Nicholas. He then asked his son Jason to clean the reindeer's litter box. "One sec, dad. I'm playing Nintendo!" He received his NES (Nintendo) from his Dad last year. He also got a save cartridge because all he played was Contra and you can't save in Contra. Thursday, Friday & Saturday, D ecem ber 21 *, 22n d & 23 rd M y C h ristm a s W ish If I could have one wish for Christmas I would wish for peace on earth and for everyone in the world to have a nice cozy home to live in. I would wish for peace because too many countries are at war and people are being hurt. I think all this suffering and unkindness should stop. There are way too many people in the hospital as a result of all the fighting. We, as a nation, are very lucky that we are good friends with our neighbours the United States of America. I think that our relationship as two peaceful countries living side by side sets a good example for other countries in the world to see. The children in Oakville can help to bring peace by being kind to each other at school and helping each other whenever they can. If someone is hurt on the playground, get a teacher to help them, or try to help them yourself. Adults can help to bring peace to the world by using words to settle their differences and not using physical violence. If all the countries in the world could stop fighting over religion, and who owns what, there wouldn't be any fighting. If people everywhere could do this, the world would be a much happier and safer place for everyone to live. All people should try to remember that Christmas is about peace and we should all try harder to be kinder and more con siderate of one another. If we could do this, I am sure it would be a great start toward world peace. Garrett M.
