Police said Trafalgar Road, as it passes through Oakville, has been identified as a roadway that has seen an increase in the incidents of aggressive and distracted driving incidents. From Friday, March 24, to Monday, March 27, members of 20 Division District Response Team were strategically placed along Trafalgar Road. Officers focused on educating motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and enforcing the applicable laws, when necessary. Despite an abundance of education and awareness surrounding the laws governing distracted driving, police say some drivers are simply not getting the message. "Traffic safety is one of our main policing concerns and is a focus of our district' s education and enforcement initiatives year-round," said Sgt. Gus Bistas of 20 Division District Response Team. "The aim of this campaign is to target two of the biggest factors in collisions -- aggressive and distracted driving." People can report driving concerns to the Halton Police directly or online at www.haltonpolice.ca through Traffic Complaints or Road Watch. Statistical results of the blitz are expected this week.
