Yusuf Gharram, 23, was pinned under a masonry block wall after it fell on him at a site where new homes are being built in the area of Bronte Road and Dundas Street in Oakville around 12:40 p.m. March 8. Emergency crews attempted to free him from the debris, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Halton Regional Police. Gharram was working for a contractor on the site where four townhouse complexes are being built by W illow Bay. The ministry issued orders to clean up debris and to ensure all other masonry block walls are stable before work could recommence on impacted areas. Meanwhile, a GoFundMe campaign raised $10,427 in donations from 124 people in just seven days to help Ghanam' s parents in the wake of his sudden death. A funeral was held at ISNA Canada (Islamic Society of North America) in Mississauga on Yusuf Ghanam March 10, two days after the incident. A friend of the family started the GoFundMe account w ith a goal of raising $10,000.
