The results, released by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO), reveal that the stu dents achieved these results during testing conducted in the spring. "In Halton, while we are very proud of our overall achievement at levels 3 and 4, we recognize that children at Level 2 are also experiencing consid erable success," said HDSB Director of Education Dusty Papke. "Our goal should always be to move the overall num ber o f children ahead by one achievement level." Said HCDSB Director of Education Fred Sweeney: "In review ing the recently announced EQAO achievement results, the Board is very pleased that, once again this year, our students achieved above provincial results. The results definitely validate the ongoing commitment o f all Board stakeholders who strive to help students develop to their fullest potential in meeting our mission of Catholic education." A total of 1,742 Grade 3 students and 1,627 Grade 6 students from the Catholic board's elementary schools participated in the testing. A total o f 3,099 Grade 3 students and 3,043 Grade 6 students from the public board took part as well. To understand the results it should be noted that two methods were used (See `Students' page 10) F ederal e le ctio n debate N ov. 21 s t Canadian Auto Workers Local 707 has set aside the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 21st for a federal all candidates debate. The event - which runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. - takes place at the Galaxy Club, located at 475 North Service Rd. East. Each candidate will be given five m inutes for opening remarks, two m inutes to answ er questions, one minute for rebuttal and three minutes for a closing statement.
