Friday, October 27, 2000 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER Dream Home lottery major YMCA supporter W hen you hand over your money to buy a Dream Home Lottery ticket, you might not give a second thought to where that money actually goes. For the second year in a row, the YMCA of Oakville will receive a portion of the funds raised through the Community Foundation of Oakville's Great Dream Home Lottery. Last year, the Y's "It's Your Move" Capital Campaign received in excess of $500,000 from the Lottery proceeds and this year will share the Lottery income with the OTMH Charitable Corporation and W ellspring of Halton/Peel. The funding from the Dream Home Lottery will assist Wellspring in its mis sion to provide support services for cancer patients and their families. It will provide the Oakville Hospital with health care equipment. And it will be used to help equip the Y's new facil ity, now under construction at 410 Rebecca St. With the Y moving from a 12,000square-foot facility (the smallest Y in Canada) to a 60,500-square-foot build ing, the equipment needs are many and varied. With this year's gift, the Community Foundation of Oakville's Great Dream Home Lottery becomes the largest sin gle donor to the "It's Your Move" Capital Campaign. There could be no more graphic illustration of the way our community benefits from the G reat O akville Dream Home Lottery. The funds raised through the Lottery are passed on directly to the charitable organizations selected by the Dream Home steering committee. The benefits to the residents of Oakville are immeasurable.
