The fundraising drive is part of MADD Halton Awareness Week (Sept. 18th - 22nd). According to MADD spokesperson Stephanie Dooley, volunteers will be on hand around 6 a.m. at train stations in Oakville, Bronte, Clarkson and Burlington. The money will go towards MADD's many community activities designed to promote safe and sober dri ving. Mayor Ann Mulvale recendy pro claim ed M ADD Halton Awareness Week, citing several alarming statistics that back up the need for all drivers not to drink and drive. For exam ple, 4.5 Canadians are killed each day in Canada, and more than 300 injured, as a result of impaired driving. As a result, the chances of being killed by a drunk driver are three times greater than being victim of a homicide.
