It was a dream come true." Cole's dream began to look more like a reality as he worked his way through ju nior and college. Coaches told him he would have the chance to play professionally if he continued to Bryan Cole work hard. Over the past couple of sum mers he's had a chance to play with and against NLL players in Major Series La crosse. At the N LL draft in September, Cole w as billed as a potential firstround pick but he really had no idea when he m ight be selected. He didn't have to wait long to find out; Georgia selected him fourth overall. "To get picked, it's really a surreal feeling," he said. "You dream about it for 17, 18 years. To hear your name called with friends and fam ily there w as pretty unbelievable." Not only did Georgia dem on strate it wanted Cole by drafting him first, it also landed Cole with a team that had plenty of famil iar faces. Oakville natives Jordan M acIntosh, Crepinsek and Sean Young, who m ade his N LL debut the sam e game, are on the roster. Cole said it w asn't being a fourth pick overall that made him nervous prior to the gam e but sim ply the stage on which he'd be playing. "I don't know if where you get drafted m atters in heightening the pressure," he said. "The pressure starts when you crack the lineup and go on the floor. The bar is raised every gam e and it's up to you to play above those standards." It was his former Burlington Chiefs teammate, Ethan O 'Connor, who proved to be a calming influ ence during the pre-game warm-up. "Ethan came up to me and said `Congratulations, you deserve this; just go prove why,'" Cole said. For a player coveted for both his offensive and defensive abili ties, scoring a shorthanded, gam e winning goal m arked a pretty good start. w w w .insideH A LTO N .com | OAKVILLE Winning the Frank Sabatino Memorial Tournament is a big deal for any team, but especially for the host teams from Oakville.
