The popular fundraiser sees local volunteers paint ceramic bowls, which people purchase, sample gourmet soups prepared by local chefs and then take the bowl home as a souvenir. Funds raised help local families facing the prospect of homelessness. Clockwise from top left, Ella Hagerman, 5, offers her mom, Gemma, the last spoonful of soup from her bowl. The popular restaurant is located at 2501 Prince Michael Dr. within the Shoppes on Dundas. It is a family-owned and operated franchise that recently celebrated its second anniversary. "We wanted to take a moment to celebrate with our customers and acknowledge the community for embracing the restaurant and us for the last two years as we have navigated through this new and exciting business," said Sunnyside Grill franchise owner Rose Dinadis on behalf of herself and her husband, co-owner Mike Dinadis. "We really appreciate all their patronage over these last couple years. We offered complimentary coffee, tea and served celebratory cake and many of our regular customers, family and friends came out to support and congratulate us. We are very thankful for the support. We also give thanks to our wonderful staff who go above and beyond for our customers." The restaurant's menu which features both breakfast and lunch items, is brought to life by chef Joseph Dinadis and features monthly specials bound to delight. The November special is Smoked Salmon Hollandaise that offers a twist on the familiar. Chef Joseph describes this special dish as an English muffin with spinach, smoked salmon, a poached egg, house made hollandaise sauce and is garnished with capers. The dish comes with a side of Sunnyside Grill's classic Country Griddle Potatoes or one of the many sides that are offered on the menu. To ring in the month of December, chef Joseph has created a Challah French Toast with strawberry and banana finished with a chocolate Toblerone puree, a meal that will add both flavour and whimsy to your holiday season. The family- run franchise boasts its ability to provide excellent customer service and many years of experience within the food industry. Chef Joseph is also a co-owner and described by his parents as the `heart of the restaurant'. He worked in a number of breakfast and dining establishments prior to taking over Sunnyside's kitchen. Co-owner Mike Dinadis also offers extensive experience in the food industry, having owned and operated Oakville's Fantasy Fruit Market for more than 25 years. Front of house manager Isabella Dinadis and sous chef Benjamin Dinadis compliment the family team and add to the success of the restaurant.
