Juno came to the OMHS Cornwall Road shelter when her owner died and his wife could no longer care for her, said Ashby. Even with the shelter at maximum capacity, staff got creative when it came time for the expectant mother to deliver, converting the OMHS laboratory into a makeshift maternity ward. On April 25, Juno gave birth to eight puppies -- two females and six males.
