The move saw the introduction of seven new MPPs into ministerial positions and a step toward gender parity with 40 per cent of the cabinet now made up of women. While Flynn said he's excited about the changes, he's glad his ministerial office went untouched. "As I've met with the stakeholders over the last couple of years, I've realized there is a real need for some stability in that role," said Flynn. "The stakeholders really want someone who understands the file and that is on both a business and labour side. People want someone they can rely on and depend on for a prolonged period of time." Flynn said he also enjoys being minister of labour, stating he has cultivated good relations with the various parties involved and looks forward to continuing in that role. Looking back on the two years he has served as Minister of Labour, Flynn said the achievement he is most proud of is introducing legislation to support first responders with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The law, introduced in April, creates the presumption PTSD diagnosed in first responders Ontario Labour Minister/Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn is work-related, which allows for faster access to WSIB benefits, resources and timely treatment. "It really wasn't until I actually outlined the bill and told people I was going into the house to introduce the bill that I realized the impact it was going to have on some people.
