Bishop Bird returns home Former Oakvillian Bishop Michael Bird will return Sunday, June 12, to the town where he grew up. Bird attended Elmwood and W.H. Morden public schools and Gordon E. Perdue High School. He will be visiting St. Cuthbert's Anglican Church, 1541 Oakhill Dr., where he served as priest from 1994-98. During his visit, he will preach and preside at a special Celtic Communion liturgy used at the Iona Abbey in Scotland "St. Cuthbert was a Celtic saint from the sixth century, who continues to serve as an inspiration for Bishop Bird's life and ministry," stated a media release. Also at the 10 a.m. service will be 25 members of the Oakville Celtic Fiddlers Club, and a children's program will include a group drumming workshop with Mystic Drumz during the regular Sunday School time.
