Personal emergency preparedness is a simple three-step process that allows you to build a strategy that will help keep your family safe: · Know the risks: think about anything in your area that could become a potential hazard, and decide how you could reduce its impact; · Make a plan: bring your household together to decide how you would communicate, meet or evacuate in an emergency; · Get a kit: collect anything you require to stay self-sufficient for 72 hours, taking into consideration the needs of pets or children, prescription medications and items like flashlights, blankets, food and water. As we create our personal preparedness strategies, we must also remember friends, family and neighbours, who may be particularly vulnerable. I encourage everyone to reach out to these individuals to help ensure they are properly prepared or are included in your individual plans. Mayor's Invitational Golf Tournament supports the United Way Oakville The 28th annual Mayor's Invitational Golf Tournament returns Wednesday, June 22. The fundraiser is in support of United Way Oakville and will go towards assisting individuals in crisis, isolated seniors, struggling families and people trying to get back on their feet, according to a media release. "Glen Abbey Gold Club has been the grand stage of golf history since its opening over 30 year ago," stated the release. "Enjoy a round of golf at this prestigious club for a great cause."
